Trade & Promo Optimization Tool
for Witside
Challenge
Signals approached me to design a Trade & Promotion Optimization platform for one of their clients, Witside. One of the main challenges was stepping into a market I wasn’t already familiar with and quickly understanding both the business goals and user needs, due to the tight deadline. The platform needed to handle complex marketing data while remaining approachable for users, so the core design challenge was balancing functionality with clarity. I had to create a dashboard that made it easy to upload and manage data, interpret statistics, and view projections that could inform future marketing strategy, all through an intuitive interface with a relatively low barrier to entry.
Solution
Designing a successful web application starts with understanding the users, the market, and the core pain points the product needs to solve. This project was no exception. After the initial discussions with Signals, we held a follow-up workshop with Witside to define the platform’s purpose, audience, and level of complexity. A key part of the process was asking the right questions: what the application needed to achieve, who would be using it, and whether those users would be experienced professionals or people with limited familiarity with similar tools. By clarifying these factors early on, we were able to align on the product requirements and shape a final application that was both functional and user-focused.
